I am so excited to have found Viewbug given the superlative judges who excel in different fields of photography!

My early years of discovering fine composition and light were heavily influenced by time spent in art galleries and museums. I am largely self-taught. In the 1970s I did freelance travel photography and writing for the Montreal Gazette. I was mentored in New York by three different professional photographers, in particular, in portraiture. In 1979 I moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and began specializing in sailing photography, freelancing for Pacific Yachting and covering local international races. This in turn led to a love of landscapes and ocean scapes.

I have traveled extensively. I continue to hone my skills by doing online seminars and actual field workshops. Carolyn is a certified judge for CAPA (Canadian Association for Photograhic Art). She looks for the WOW factor in an image and strong storytelling. Lastly, she loves seeing and capturing that something extra that strengthens an image. She is inspired by others who in turn raise the bar photographically. Photography is her passion.
